1. Who we are

SecureTunnel.com is operated by Sterling Security Research, Inc., a North Dakota S-Corporation. When we say "we," "us," or "SecureTunnel," we mean Sterling Security Research, Inc. When we say "you," we mean the individual accessing or using our service.

2. What you're agreeing to

By creating an account or using the SecureTunnel service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. These Terms apply to the VPN software, the website, and any related services we operate.

3. Acceptable use

You may use SecureTunnel for lawful purposes. You may not use it to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) or operate spam infrastructure
  • Conduct denial-of-service attacks against any target
  • Access, distribute, or produce child sexual abuse material
  • Engage in fraud, phishing, or identity theft
  • Violate the intellectual property rights of others at scale
  • Conduct port scanning or vulnerability scanning against targets without authorization

We enforce these limits through abuse detection, not content inspection. We do not monitor what you do online. When our abuse systems flag activity consistent with the above, we investigate and act — but the content of your traffic is not logged or reviewed.

4. Accounts and billing

Account responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

Billing

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the same rate you signed up at. We send a reminder at least 7 days before any renewal charge. You can cancel at any time from your account dashboard.

Refunds

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase. Refund requests after 30 days are evaluated case by case. Crypto payments are non-refundable due to the irreversible nature of blockchain transactions.

5. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before doing so unless immediate action is necessary to protect the network or other users. You may cancel your account at any time.

6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

SecureTunnel is provided "as is." We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly secure. A VPN is a privacy tool, not an anonymity guarantee. To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. We will notify subscribers by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that period constitutes acceptance. If you don't agree with updated terms, you may cancel.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Dakota, USA. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of North Dakota.

This Privacy Policy is the legal companion to our Logging Policy, which is written in plain English and is the document most subscribers will want to read. This document covers the same ground in formal terms required by applicable law.

1. Data we collect and why

Account data

Email address (required for account management and renewal reminders). Collected at signup, retained for the life of the account, deleted within 30 days of account closure on request.

Payment data

Transaction records retained for accounting and legal compliance. Card details are processed by Stripe and not stored by us. Crypto payments are not linked to account identity.

Connection metadata

Session timestamps (start and end), total bandwidth per session, and source IP address at connection time. Source IP is retained for 30 days then permanently purged. Session timestamps and bandwidth are retained for 90 days.

What we do not collect

We do not collect browsing history, DNS query history, traffic content, search terms, or any application-level data. This data is not logged, not processed, and does not exist on our systems.

2. How we use your data

  • Account management and service delivery
  • Renewal reminders and billing communications
  • Abuse prevention and network security
  • Legal compliance

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties. Our revenue comes entirely from subscription fees.

3. Third-party services

Stripe — payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs data shared with them for payment purposes. BTCPay Server — crypto payment processing. Self-hosted; crypto payments are not connected to your account identity.

4. Legal requests

We will comply with valid legal process issued by courts of competent jurisdiction. We will notify affected users of legal requests to the maximum extent the law permits. We will challenge overbroad or legally defective requests. See our Warrant Canary for the current status of secret government orders.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Notice and takedown

SecureTunnel complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe material accessible through our service infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice to our designated agent.

SecureTunnel is a VPN service — we route encrypted traffic and do not host, store, or distribute user content. DMCA notices relating to content hosted by our subscribers should be directed to the hosting provider of that content, not to us.

For notices relating to content hosted on securetunnel.com itself (our website), contact: [email protected]

Required information

A valid DMCA notice must include:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
  • Identification of the material alleged to be infringing, with enough detail to locate it
  • Your contact information (address, phone, email)
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized
  • A statement that the information in the notice is accurate
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Counter-notices

If you believe material was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to [email protected]. Counter-notices must meet the requirements specified in 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3).

Repeat infringers

We will terminate accounts of subscribers who are repeat copyright infringers in appropriate circumstances.

How to read this canary

A warrant canary is a regularly updated statement that we have not received certain types of secret legal orders we may be prohibited from disclosing. As long as this page is updated on schedule with the statements above intact, no such orders have been received.

What to watch for: If this page is not updated within 30 days of the stated due date, or if any of the above statements are removed or modified, that is a signal that something has changed — even if we cannot say what.

We update this canary quarterly. We will not remove it silently. If it disappears without explanation, treat that as meaningful.

Limitations

A warrant canary is not a guarantee. It is a transparency mechanism. Courts can compel silence; they may not be able to compel false speech. The canary relies on this distinction. We maintain it i
